Statins might have yet another benefit beyond lowering cholesterol and protecting against atherosclerosis. A new study published online in the journal Neurology has found that older adults on the medications have a significantly lower risk of developing Parkinsonism, which causes serious movement problems, including tremors, slowed movement, and stiffness, than those who do not take statins.
