The use of empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, appears to reduce the risk of short-term diabetic retinopathy progression in patients with type 2 diabetes and history of nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy, according to a new study. Higher Rates of Cardiovascular Disease Events Occur During Chemotherapy

Older adults undergoing chemotherapy for metastatic cancers, especially hematological or those affecting the lungs, are at a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease. In fact, the risk is about double that of cancer-free adults of similar age, according to a new study.
